Hipstamatic Classic App Reviews

I am always resetting my settings. The camera face, film and lenses change. Photos process with pixelation. I feel like I wasted my money on this app over the last 7 years.

Ive been using this app since the beginning. Its fantastic. Thanks for making this awesome app. looking forward to more updates.

One of the cooler photo apps out there now has some great updates (5x3 as well as square aspect ratio, post shot-editing/fx) but with one huge flaw that makes it impossible to use with a laptop/desktop. If you are shooting, editing and delivering (on social media, email, etc…) in camera, no problem. But if you transfer your iPhone photos to your laptop/desktop via a USB cable, into Photos, for example, you’re screwed. All the Hipstamatic fx, filters ratio, etc… are stripped out of the image file, and you’re left with a crappy photo using only default settings from your plain ol’ in-phone camera (without the benefit of even using native filters, fx, etc…). Again, if you’re fine with always and only working on the iPhone, you’ll be fine. If you prefer to move your photos onto to another machine, you’re screwed. And eventually your iPhone will run out of storage space, and when you decide to finally transfer your Hipstamatic images over, you’ll find it is impossible. Incredibly frustrating and stupid. Why ship like this/

The biggest and buggiest problem with this app is that you take photos you never get to see. I used to love the photos that came out of here but now they are rare. Many sacred moments lost. Maybe they should create an "undeveloped" folder

Why isnt the view finder set to actual scale when I use classic mode? Why does the software flash switch get set over to torch mode when I look at a photo I just took when I have it set to software flash only in the settings menu? Also, why cant I just use the software flash in pro mode? The instagram upload only works about a fifth of the time.

Update 313: Thanks for ripping off one of your original customers. After a restore of my phone, a lot of my packs are saying I either have to purchase them again or theyre just gone from the store entirely. Ridiculous. I complain d about getting charged for all these packs, probably sinking $30+ into this app (stupid, I know), and now I either cant have them or you want me to pay again. Done being your fool. Update 220: Are you guys ever going to utilize the front facing camera? Or is that just not hipster enough for you? Also being able to control the flash within the app, such as pseudo flash or real flash. Update 180: I initially rated this a five star app but pack after pack you keep getting charged. You guys have quite a racket going on here. While it takes great pics, it doesnt have any control over pictures that could be important. And I really hate getting charged again and again. Insticam and PictureShow and even Swankolab, among others, give just as good pictures and infinite control and they DO post editing which this doesnt allow.

The app immediately crashes after the March 21 update

After the most recent update, I cant open Hipstamatic. The app crashes right away and cannot be used.

I preferred to take photos with hipstamstic and have had the app for quite some time. The updates- crashes, freezes, all favorite setting lost. Seems convoluted and too busy. And I dont need all the photos I take to be a part of hipstamstic storage. Currently hate hipstamstic. Now it doesnt work at all so deleted the app. Bummer.

I have used Hipstamatic for many years and think it is a great camera. But likes a number of others posting here, crashes upon opening; can no longer use it March 2016. I did start to wonder if it was the newly installed IOS 9.3 update perhaps, and not the app? When it works it is a particularly delightful camera.

So sad that Hipstamatic is now unusable for me after this update. It will not restore my lens and film purchases. It keeps showing the same intro video then crashes. I used to love this app!!

Ive used Hipstamatic for years and even survived the chaos of the intro of 300! Suddenly the App is frozen and all the photos are there but blacked out! If I delete the App I lose all my photos! What have you done in this last upgrade??? Dont know if Squaready is connected to this but the photos arent there at all!

Fun app. 300 series improvements give you a whole new set of ways to play with your pictures, while still retaining the old simplicity of shooting. Had a minor problem restoring paks to my new phone, but CS returned my email in a day and had me back running full speed minutes later. Its one of my favorite apps.

My usual workflow is to transfer images from my iPhone to my iPad for editing in Hipstamatic. Since the recent update when I attempt to access photos from within Hipstamatic the camera roll window is totally black. Clicking anywhere on the black window will bring up an image seemingly at random. Very annoying, and almost completely unworkable! Please fix.

I will probably just echo all the other reviews I see here by saying this app used to be amazing and now is buggy. Why is it so hard to fix the bugs? Ive payed more for additions on this app than any other app. I loved it. And now its all just bugs. What a waste. When I import my photos into my computer they do not show up with the filter they are just the original photo. Plus all the other bugs everyone else is complaining about.

Cant open since March 21st update. Please fix the problem. Please fix before first Friday.

Simply put, I cant open the app since updating iOS. I figured this would have been taken care of before the new iOS was released, or at least right after. Now, I just wait...

Hipstamatic makes even the most mundane photos beautiful. I put nearly every photo I take through a hipsta filter, even if its just for subtle coloring. Love it.

Another update, more stuff not working. This app is awful now. Dont buy it. Its so not worth having constantly to google and ask friends how to work around these developers consistent failures to fix things and breaking new things with each "update". Now we suddenly cant share on any social media again and the app freezes and crashes even more than before. Dont buy. Ive already sunk like $50 into this app or else I would walk away. ---from last year--- Ive had Hipstamatic since day 1. For years it was my favorite app. The 300 remodel and the subsequent updates have taken some getting used to. I just look at it as forcing us to have Oggl. Fine. But there are sooo many bugs that have not been fixed even from 260! Years ago! Posting to IG and now to Twitter is buggy to impossible, tags are limited, posting--if youre able-- strips info from the images, like location and tags and size. Sometimes even the filters are removed when posting. All these "updates" are layered on top of existing problems and without fixing the root problems. Its incredible that some have persisted for years now. I have a 6S currently and the latest iOS, but have had bugs all along the way on my 4, 5S and now my 6S, always with the latest iOS, so its definitely not my phone. Its Hipstamatic. They really need to invest in some proper bug killing and have a working Help section on their website for petes sake. It is like three years out of date and only addresses like 5 questions. Ugh. --review from six months ago-- 300+ is a disaster. Wont restore purchases, wont post to IG and if it does posts messed up non-edited versions. Have to re log in every time. Keep getting error pop ups re paks not loading. This touted update auto installed and now this app that Ive easily invested $40 in is useless. Undo! --below is my review from a year and a half ago-- For years Hipstamatic has been a smooth gorgeous experience. Since iOS 7 there have been some problems. The past few updates have introduced a bunch of bugs and not resolved others, compounding the effect: -cannot put hashtags in text when posting to IG for months now, since several iOS/hipsta updates ago -sharing location when posting, the selection box makes you choose one (when posting to multiple sites like IG, Twitter or Fbk) then the menu snaps shut and location for another one cant be chosen, this problem is at least two updates old -now my app crashes whenever I try to take a photo with the flash (?!) -support has helped me a bit with work around in lieu of problems solved but has stopped responding. :/ My fingers are crossed that this mythical 300 version will clear all of this up & if you guys are busy perfecting that, I can be patient for a while. Please fix the bugs, kind Hipsta developers! So many gorgeous lenses, flashes and films, make amazing photos. The app has been my absolute favorite and literally the reason I keep an iPhone. Apart from these recent snafus the app is worth every penny (and Ive invested many in the add ons over the years).

The app crashes immediately upon openly on iPhone 6s. Unusable.
