Hipstamatic Classic App Reviews

This use to be my favorite app. I love the picture effects and filters. HOWEVER, when you download images to your computer only the original image comes through. There is practically no way to actually download the edited versions. Customer service was no help. I am so disappointed. Wish I could get a refund.

Ahmedmust explains it pretty well. The original square photo filter app is kinda obsolete - EXPENSIVE obsolete with major app overhauls that dont work right and weigh down your device. if you keep up with the IAPs, you will be looking at a serious investment - a bad marriage. put a perspective on $.99 a month from here till death do you part. at a certain point you just buy the stuff to make the other ones happy. film, flash, and lens combos do create new coolness, but its like a bad marriage where youre in it for the kids. when the L7 square format was quashed in instagram so too was this app on a few levels. their attempt to give it more editing features just caused problems. a certain amount of capital is acceptable for IAPs, but knowing what we know about the rents and push on the existing population of the city where the developers hail from, i have a hard time supporting this app anymore. to make it worse, their cinamatic app has had worse issues with a major feature of a big IAP which is just not acceptable ... you dont ask for money for a feature that works sporadically (video importing).

This has been my number one photo app for years. I love all the new updates and packs that come out. There is always something new and refreshing coming out. I look forward to seeing whats next!

This is a good app. I used to use this back when I had an iPhone 3 and 4 and was hoping they made some improvements. It looks like theyve made fantastic updates, but its about of a learning curve to find where everything is. Its also extremely slow to process and perform tasks, even on an iPhone 7. This app could use a bit of engineering work behind the scenes to tighten up some actions that seem to lag.

if i could only have one photo app, this would be it. i have hundreds. all platforms.

When I it works it works and now that its back up and running iv got my favorite camera back up. Ive got all the hipstapaks and I think Ive used pretty much all of them playing around on the new version this week. It looks like with the new update, they should be having some really cool hipstapak coming up like the one they just , Kreuzburg.

Some things get fixed, and others break. Shooting with an iPad Pro, have bought almost every single pak. Everything is still useless at this point. Wont record anything shot in Classic, viewfinder is black. Really super bummed. Please fix this, and I can retract my review. I am dying to give 5 stars again, but not in the state things are in.

I love this app. Ive spent so much time focusing on it. Its disappointing how its put out of commission by a faulty or glitch-producing update. Last year this happened and left me unable to use the app for a couple of momths. Now, Im back in the situation. It struggles to open and then crashes. H was a great app. It still is for some, maybe. I genuinely love it so it pains me to pan it. The customer service people really give you the run around and thats quite annoying. I recommend this app to people while at the same time warning you that its liable to let you down in a big way. The developers are not very helpful...not even to themselves as they seem to get a lot of flack for the problems that continally plague Hipstamatic. Its a monster of a camera: so many capabilities. However, the developers are not on top of things.

Ive noticed a really big change in the past 8 months or so and its not a good one. Many features used to be available on my phone but it seems very limited right now. Its very slow and the pictures are blurry. Very disappointed, and I hope it gets fixed.

I have loved this app for years, and have bought many packs over the years. Ever since the big update however, this app has become almost unusable. Here are a few of the issues: 1. It crashes. A lot. 2. It refuses to focus. If I use tap-to-focus (like Ive been doing for years), the app will either focus on anything but my subject, or it will blur the entire picture. This is not user error. Ive been using this function for years, and suddenly it no longer works. The only way to get a picture in focus is to let the app decide what to focus on. Sometimes it focuses on my subject, and sometimes it doesnt. In either case, I no longer have control over whats in focus, and whats completely blurred. 3. Almost every time I switch lenses or films, the camera view turns upside down. If I rotate the phone a few times, sometimes this issue will sort itself out, but sometimes it wont. 4. Sometimes the app wont take a picture at all. This is my favorite one. I will open the app, press the shutter button, and the app will act like it took a picture. Yet no photo ever appears in my library. This is especially annoying when Im shooting a moving scene, like a soccer game, or a my dog, or anything else that doesnt sit perfectly still while I wait for my camera app to catch up. This is a total deal breaker, for obvious reasons. I used to love this app. I still want to love this app. The beauty of Hipstamatic in fact was that it challenged me to take a good photo without the aid of post-processing. I liked the fact that what I saw was what I got. It actually helped me to focus on my photography skills as opposed to thinking I would fix my mistakes later in post. I wish Hipstamatic would go back to what it was originally. I was excited at first about the thought of being able to edit photos, but even without the glitches, Ive enjoyed this app far less now that it has become an editing app. I just want the old Hipstamatic back. Hipstamatic team: I know youre probably not going to revert to the way things were. And yes, I have my app in Classic mode, but the glitches persist. So if you could at least clear up these glitches, and make this app usable again, I would so appreciate it. Ive spent a lot of money on your product over the years, and its an app I just cant rely on anymore to take a picture when I need it to. Fix the basics. This is a photo app. It should take pictures, right-side-up, in focus. Honestly. After that, you can add your bells and whistles. Just make it so Hipstamatic can take reliable pictures again. Please. v320 just black-screened my 6S on 10.0.2 3 consecutive times. First app to black screen my 6S on iOS 10. Id give v320 2 stars but most versions is a 4 or 5 star app. Older reviews: A usability overhaul is X years overdue but this is big-laden. Favorites didnt survive the update. Not cool. Cant get out of Create a Favorite w/o killing from memory. Prior purchases wont restore 100%. Cant stay in pro mode, keeps reverting to classic. This was discovered within 60 seconds of use. First patch helped stability. 5S performance is God-awful though. Also customizing which films are enabled has addl steps to accomplish and is inexplicably slow as well. On paper theres a lot to like with the new major release. Now its time to get its problems out of the way so it can be used as intended.

I spent a boatload of money buying packs and now I cant even do an edit to a photo on my iPad Pro without this crap freezing up my pad... what gives? You have our money, now fix this or I will uninstall and youll never get another penny from me or my friends... word of mouth goes a long way!!!

Every update to Hipstamatic since 300 has been a major improvement. I love the manual controls, editing suite, and saving options so much. Shooting in classic mode and shuffling gear is more fun because Hipstamatic saves the original version AND takes a full frame photo, no matter which aspect ratio you choose to shoot. Ive been using Hipstamatic as my default camera since that feature was implemented in the 320 update. There are still a few opportunities, though. Ive noticed the app crashing when I try to edit from an existing photo 100% of the time. This does not happen if I edit a reverted original or photo shot in Hipstamatic. The processing time seems a little slower on iOS 10, but I get there is a learning curve here for all developers. Also, with iOS 10 support for RAW files, it would be AWESOME if shooting/saving RAW files could be written into a future update. VSCO has it...

Ive been using this app for years now. Its always been my favorite. I dont ever use anything else for editing and taking photos. Im such a nerd for Hipstamatic that I keep buying iPhones just so I can use this app. Ive always been a huge fan of actual film photography, and this is a fun, convenient way to take the next best thing when Im on the go and dont feel like lugging around my cameras and messing with the film. Yeah, there are some bugs every now and then, but the creative freedom and imagination you have with this app is still well worth it. I think the developers have done a great job and put a lot of work and dedication into making this app. You can take and create some beautiful picture with this app, and Ill always be a fan.
